"We started as a family business, and we continue to operate with the same values and quality my grandfather put in place. It's about service, value, trust, reliability and conversation."
Those words have long reflected the values that guided Mat Master and helped shape the relationships the company has built throughout Manitoba.
This year marks Mat Master's 40th year serving businesses throughout the province. Under the leadership of Tyson and Cynthia Schwartz, the company has continued the tradition established decades ago by the Schwartz family, earning the trust of customers through consistent service, strong relationships, and a commitment to doing business the right way.
As Mat Master reached this important milestone, the Schwartz family began considering what the future of the business would look like and who would be best positioned to continue the legacy they had spent decades building.
“We wanted our customers and employees to be treated well and looked after, and it was important to us that our team would continue to experience the culture of a family-run organization,” shared Tyson Shwartz, owner of Mat Master.
With those priorities in mind, Mat Master has joined the Quintex family.
As a fellow Manitoba family-owned industrial laundry company, Quintex is honoured to continue the legacy the Schwartz family has built. Both organizations have earned their reputations through service, accountability, and long-term relationships, creating a natural alignment between the two businesses.
“Quintex felt the closest. Family and service,” shared Tyson Shwartz.
For the Schwartz family, the decision ultimately came down to values.
"It gave us peace of mind knowing our customers and employees would be in the hands of a business that shares the same commitment to integrity, service, and respect for people," shared Cynthia Schwartz, owner of Mat Master.
Founded in 1911, Quintex has evolved from its roots in dry cleaning and dye work into one of Manitoba's largest industrial laundry operations, providing uniforms, mats, linens, towels, and washroom products to businesses across the province. Today the company continues to be led by the third and fourth generations of the Quinton family.
"What impressed us most about Mat Master was how closely their values aligned with ours," shared David Quinton, President of Quintex.
Beyond their shared history as family businesses, both organizations have built cultures centered around long-term relationships with both customers and employees.
Many of the employees serving customers today have spent decades with their respective organizations. Their experience, knowledge, and commitment have helped create the consistency and reliability customers have come to expect.
"What makes a strong organization is its people. We believe in supporting employees, encouraging growth, and trusting the experience they bring to their roles everyday," shared Mackie Quinton, Co-CEO of Quintex.
The strength of those employee relationships directly contributes to the customer experience.
For both organizations, service has never been solely about delivering a product. It is about showing up, following through on commitments, taking accountability when challenges arise, and working alongside customers to find solutions.
Many customer relationships have grown far beyond a typical supplier relationship, evolving into genuine partnerships that have lasted decades.
Looking ahead, customers can expect continuity in the areas that matter most.
"We're not just growing our company, we're building on two strong Manitoba legacies," shared Brodie Quinton, Co-CEO of Quintex.
Mat Master will continue operating as Mat Master while becoming part of the Quintex family. The focus remains on preserving what has made Mat Master successful while creating opportunities for continued growth and investment in the future.
“I am happy our customers will continue receiving the service they are used to, and that our employees will have even better opportunities,” shared Tyson Schwartz.
Generations of employees, customers, and partners have helped shape these businesses, building the trust and relationships that continue to guide them today.
As this next chapter begins, that commitment remains unchanged: serving Manitoba businesses with integrity, accountability, and care.
