Celebrating Milestones and Community Impact: Supporting Water Conservation, Animal Welfare, and Local History
Every year, we have the opportunity to support a variety of organizations and initiatives, each working toward something meaningful in its own way.
This year was especially encouraging. A couple of organizations we've supported for many years reached significant milestones, reflecting growing awareness and ongoing support for their missions. We also had the chance to get involved with a few new initiatives that highlighted different ways people are making a positive impact.
Here are four organizations and initiatives that stood out to us this year.
Lake Winnipeg Foundation's Walk for Water
For many years, we've supported Walk for Water, an annual event organized by the Lake Winnipeg Foundation that raises awareness and support for freshwater stewardship.
This year, the event surpassed an impressive milestone, raising more than $100,000. While the number itself is worth celebrating, what it represents is even more meaningful: growing support for efforts that help protect and preserve one of Manitoba's most important natural resources.
The Lake Winnipeg Foundation continues to play an important role in advancing research, education, and initiatives that support the long term health of Lake Winnipeg. Seeing continued participation and enthusiasm for events like Walk for Water is an encouraging reminder that environmental stewardship remains a priority for many Manitobans.
Canadian Animal Blood Bank Mutt & Masters Golf Classic
Another organization we've had the opportunity to support over the years is the Canadian Animal Blood Bank through its annual Mutt & Masters Golf Classic.
The Canadian Animal Blood Bank is a national non profit organization that collects, processes, and distributes canine blood products to veterinary hospitals and clinics across Canada. These donations can be critical for dogs requiring emergency treatment, surgery, or care related to illness and injury.
This year, the organization raised more than $34,000 through the Mutt & Masters Golf Classic. While fundraising milestones are important, they also reflect growing awareness of a resource that many pet owners may not realize exists until it is needed.
The continued support of donors, volunteers, veterinary professionals, and community partners helps ensure blood products remain available for dogs facing serious medical challenges. It's encouraging to see awareness and participation continue to grow around an organization that plays such an important role in animal health across Canada.

St. Vital Museum Colouring Book Initiative
This year, we had the opportunity to support a new initiative from the St. Vital Museum: a colouring book designed to help young visitors engage with local history in a fun and interactive way.
The museum wanted to create something children could take home following their visit, encouraging them to continue exploring the stories, people, and places that helped shape the community. We were pleased to sponsor the project and help bring the idea to life.
What made the initiative especially meaningful was its connection to our own history. Many years ago, illustrations of Quincy, our owl mascot, and other characters appeared on the paper backings used with dry cleaned garments. While the purpose was different, it was a reminder of how simple, creative touches can leave a lasting impression.
Supporting the colouring book was a small way to help encourage curiosity, creativity, and an appreciation for local history among the next generation.
City of Winnipeg Animal Services Agency’s Business Buddies Dog Day
One of the more unique initiatives we participated in this year was Business Buddies Dog Day, a program organized by the City of Winnipeg Animal Services Agency.
The program gives adoptable dogs the opportunity to spend time in local workplaces, introducing them to new environments while helping community members learn more about animal adoption and the important role animal service organizations play.
While our team certainly enjoyed the visit, what stood out most was the purpose behind the program. Beyond providing the dogs with valuable social interaction and enrichment, Business Buddies creates opportunities for people to connect with animals they may not otherwise have the chance to meet.
For some dogs, a workplace visit is simply a fun day outside the shelter. For others, it may help increase visibility and create connections that could eventually lead to a future adoptive family.
It was a great introduction to a program that demonstrates another way communities can support animal welfare, one interaction at a time.
One of the things we've come to appreciate is that there is no single path to making a difference.
Whether it's protecting our freshwater resources, supporting lifesaving care for animals, helping children engage with local history, or creating opportunities for shelter dogs to connect with potential adopters, each initiative contributes inits own meaningful way.
We're grateful to have played a small role in supporting these efforts and look forward to following their continued success in the years ahead.
