Wash Wisely | What Makes Our Wash Process Eco-Friendly?
In the realm of workwear maintenance, the choice between home laundering and professional services is more than just a matter of convenience—it is a strategic move for sustainability. When work uniforms return home after a day's work, carrying heavy soil, chemicals, or fluids, the effectiveness of home laundering comes into question. However, professional laundering offers a solution that blends meticulous care with eco-friendly practices. Discover how the wash process in commercial laundering facilities makes it a more sustainable choice when maintaining uniforms.
Staggered Start Times
We operate our washers at staggered times throughout the day. This means that instead of running all wash cycles simultaneously, we schedule them at various times. By spreading out the workload in this manner, we not only reduce strain on our system but also optimize resource usage. This proactive approach ensures smoother operations and minimizes energy consumption and water usage, especially during peak times.
Water Temperature
Our steam bundle and economizer are instrumental in helping us achieve the optimal wash temperature without excessive energy consumption.
The steam bundle utilizes steam from our high-efficiency boiler to add heat energy to copper tubes containing hot water, ensuring that the water reaches the desired temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit for our wash cycles.
Additionally, our economizer, integrated into our boiler system, effectively utilizes waste heat to preheat water before it enters the boiler. This process reduces the amount of fuel needed for steam conversion.
Balancing Load
With our range of washers catering to different load capacities, we meticulously assess each load to ensure that the right amount is placed in each machine. This careful approach helps us avoid over or under washing garments, optimizing water and energy usage. Additionally, balancing loads enables us to tailor wash formulas for each batch. Together, these factors significantly impact the longevity of the garment.
Balancing Cleaning Power and Fabric Care
Eco-friendly wash treatments are used to launder our garments reducing harsh chemicals that end up in the waterways. Despite being eco-friendly, the different wash treatments are still able to tackle specific soil concerns, while being mindful of the fabric type. This ensures the longevity of the garment as it is not being stripped from harsh chemicals. Furthermore, these wash treatments contribute to the effective elimination of microorganisms, acritical factor, especially for certain industries. To ensure that we maintain the highest standards, we undergo regular monitoring through third-party inspections.
Reuse Of Water
Through our Water Waste System, we recycle over 80% of our water, exceeding Clean Green Standards and significantly reducing our water consumption per pound of laundry. Central to this system is the use of reverse osmosis filtration, which purifies water used in the washer by removing impurities. This purified water is then recycled and reused, a process particularly beneficial during the first rinse cycle of mats, which tend to accumulate heavy amounts of dirt. By recycling water in this manner, we not only conserve water resources but also minimize our environmental impact by reducing wastewater discharge.
In summary, professional laundering of workwear not only guarantees proper garment care but also demonstrates consideration for environmental impacts. By understanding the intricacies of the wash process, we uncover the sustainable factors at play. To learn more about our services, feel free to reach out to us or ask for a facility tour.
